What do I live for?

One thing I have asked of the LORD,

that will I seek after:

that I may dwell in the house of the LORD

all the days of my life,

to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD

and to inquire in the temple…

…I believe that I shall look upon the

goodness of the LORD

…in the land of the living!

-Psalm 27:4, 13

It is my delight to seek out the goodness of God, here, in the ‘land of the living.’ I live to experience His majesty in the awe-inspiring beauty of creation.  I believe that He has formed each of us as creative beings, after His image.  I find great joy in writing, making music, and noticing the quirks and perks of everyday life.  I crave experiencing His loving kindness in the close relationships that I am lucky enough to make with people from all different walks of life.

I do my best to intentionally make the Bible my greatest influence.  From this place of devotion, I deeply desire to be a voice of truth and wisdom in a world that I believe God loves more than we can possibly imagine, though at times it can feel overwhelmingly dark.  I believe that it is important to keep our eyes and our hearts open to the cultures around us.  I have sought opportunities to do missions in countries other than the US to recalibrate my heart to the realities of physical and spiritual poverty and God’s compassion for the oppressed and downtrodden.  I thrive off of adventure and change.

Many who know me would say I am in a constant state of transition, whether it is because I am in-between mission trips, schools, majors, or places of residence.  I am currently in love with my life of prayer and worship at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri.

We’ll see where He leads me next…

Your word is a lamp to my feet

and a light to my path.

Your testimonies are my heritage forever,

for they are the joy of my heart.

-Psalm 119:105,111

  • I am really starting to think that we are constantly in transition. Ever-changing is our status with school, relationships, family, starting a family, moving, staying, other people moving, modes of transportation, learning about God, favorite foods, coffee creamers, and color combinations. Really, from the insignificant to the life-changing, transition is inevitable. It’s what we do with it that marks who we become. Love you.

  • its funny because i’ve been meditating on psalm 27 everyday for the past week and i feel like God has been specifically highlighting verses 13 and 14, and for me He speaks through “random” repetition a lot of the time and He continued in His repetition through your blog…anyway i know theres no real point to this comment but i just thought it was cool how God gets my attention in unexpected ways and one way was through you blog lol :)
    anywho…i love and miss you!
